This is a sound recorded with a handcrafted electromagnetic microphone (that is why is in mono format). The machine recorded is used for signal processing tasks at cbc (upf) for their experiments on brain cognition. As researchers of the center for brain and cognition, we work to advance our understanding of how experience influences the emergence of structure and function through computational and experimental investigation. We are also interested in understanding how mechanisms regulating brain development interact with the effects of experience to produce the structural and functional characteristics of the brain. These lines of research clarify how specific biological mechanisms routinely support the emergence of cognitive functions, leading to insights into why experience is so important for normal brain development. Looking at the spectrogram waveform display of https://freesound. Org/people/ivolipa/sounds/344948/ i noticed a few patterns. Distinct bands of high volume at around ~600hz, ~1200hz, ~1800hz, the fade in volume toward higher frequencies, a ubiquitous noise, and the soft staccato rhythm. Using these facts, i tried to make yet another engine sound with fm-synthesis. Sound forge 7 — to my knowledge — lacking a spectrogram, i've no clue if this was a successful attempt, but it does have a vaguely engine-like sound.

Studio recordings of handling a small metal mechanical device for foley purposes. Originally used to foley handling sounds of a tattoo machine, but could also be used for guns, surgical instruments etc. Recorded with an at-4047/sv large-diaphragm condenser mic. In this clip, i am handling the device, producing diverse clinks and ratcheting sounds.

Defibrillator charging and then discharging. I created this for a video i am working on. I searched but was unable to find what i was looking for, so i created this sound using a combination of an old camera flash charging and a thump which was created by slapping a foam pad. The sounds were combined and edited using audacity. The sounds were recorded on an olympus pcs recorder.

50 claps made in blok modular from scratch. Supposed to sound very unrealistic/dry/drum machine-like as possible so you don't have to sample the real thing. Some of these use asymmetric waveshaping which adds dc offset (0 hz noise) so you may want to highpass the crustier ones. I would've uploaded a zip of the individual hits but because of the way freesound works you'll have to chop it up yourself.

Recording taken from a train at about 20 feet away. It was very windy, so consequently, the majority of the track was very much ruined. There is a small click near half-way, caused by a brief release of steam. It might prove annoying if you are planning on looping it. There is also not an even right/left balance throughout, due to my movement to avoid the wind.
